Developmental Disabilities Services - Eligibility - Oklahoma

Individuals who have a severe chronic disability attributable to one or more mental and physical impairments manifested before age 22, likely to continue indefinitely, and resulting in substantial functional limitations in major areas of life activity, are eligible for state-funded Developmental Disabilities Services (DDS). These individuals require a combination and sequence of special, individually planned and coordinated services.

To be eligible for state-funded DDS services a person must:

·             Present a psychological assessment showing a full scale intelligence quotient (IQ) of 75 or less

·             Be determined disabled, with a diagnosis of mental retardation, by the Social Security Administration

·             Be a resident of the State of Oklahoma

·             Have achieved an age defined within the provisions of each state-funded program

Individuals approved for DDSD state-funded services prior to January 1, 1990, maintain their eligibility for services.

The Director of the Department of Human Services (DHS) may authorize the delivery of services to individuals whose capacities exceed the established criteria.
