The Delaware Department of Labor, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) is the state's public program that helps people with physical and mental disabilities obtain or retain employment. DVR also operates an Independent Living Program that helps people with disabilities function in the community. DVR's commitment is to help people with disabilities increase independence through employment.
DVR provides employment services to individuals with disabilities and services to employers who wish to hire people with disabilities. (See: DE DVR Services for Individuals with Disabilities, DE DVR Project CLIMB to Employment and DE Program to Attain Self-Sufficiency.)
DVR collaborates with the Governor's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities, whose mission is to facilitate and promote public and private efforts to enhance employment of people with disabilities, the State Rehabilitation Council (SRC), whose mission is to collaborate with and provide support to DVR regarding program planning and the delivery of services to people with disabilities and the State Independent Living Council (SILC), which oversees the activities of independent living programs throughout Delaware.
