Alert - Rental Unit Too Small

Your rental unit does not have enough bedrooms for your family size. See Family Size and Number of Bedrooms for a table of Family Size versus Number of Bedrooms.

NOTE: Your Public Housing Agency (PHA) may deviate from HUD's guidelines. If your PHA says that a different number of bedrooms is appropriate for your family size and composition, ignore WorkWORLD's Text Results concerning number of bedrooms.

Section 8 assistance for the unit may not be terminated for this reason. The owner, however, must offer your family a suitable alternative unit if one is available and you shall be required to move.

If the owner does not have available a suitable unit within your family's ability to pay the rent, the PHA (if it has sufficient funding) must offer Section 8 assistance to your family or otherwise assist your family in locating other standard housing in the PHA's jurisdiction within your family's ability to pay, and require your family to move to such a unit as soon as possible. You must not be forced to move unless your family rejects, without good reason, the offer of a unit that the PHA judges to be acceptable.
