Households that receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Food Stamps, and certain needs-tested Veterans' benefits are categorically eligible for LIHEAP.
Household income must not exceed 110% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines in order to be eligible for the program. Household gross earned and unearned income, less exclusions, is considered in determining financial eligibility. The household’s own statement regarding its income is acceptable unless documentation is requested.
Income received on an annual basis is prorated over twelve months to arrive at the average monthly income. If income is not received on a regular monthly basis total income is rounded to the nearest dollar (See OAC 340:20-1-11. at:
OK Department of Human Services Policy ).
When an individual’s income is reduced due to recoupment of an overpayment or garnishment, the gross amount before the recoupment or garnishment is considered.
