Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program - Application Procedures – Oklahoma

LIHEAP participants are brought into the program in two phases. Typically, selected LIHEAP cases are pre-authorized in October. Applications for the Heating Assistance Program are normally taken the first working day in December, and applications are taken for a month or less from that time.

Individuals who are blind, disabled, or 60 years of age or older may apply for LIHEAP in locations outside the state or county offices where applications are normally processed. Applications are accepted at senior citizens centers, congregate meal sites, and other designated locations. Applications may be taken in the home for those who have transportation barriers.

Applications may be made by the spouse, natural, or legal guardian on behalf of the applicant.
