Workers' Compensation - Temporary Total Disability (§34) - Massachusetts

Workers' Compensation benefits paid under Temporary Total Disability are 60% of your Average Weekly Wage before injury while remaining above the minimum and below the maximum payments that are set for each form of compensation.

Your Average Weekly Wage (AWW) is based on your gross earnings over the 52 weeks prior to your injury. To determine your benefits, take your actual gross earnings, including overtime, bonuses, etc., and divide this number by the number of weeks you worked, in order to compute your AWW. Multiply that by 60% and come up with your approximate weekly compensation.

The maximum weekly compensation rate is 100% of the Statewide Average Weekly Wage (SAWW), while the minimum is 20% of SAWW. The limit for temporary benefits is 156 weeks.
