An insured worker is an individual who has been paid wages for insured work in a base period equal to or exceeding one and one-half (1½) times the total of his or her wages paid for insured work in the quarter of the base period in which his or her wages for insured work were highest.
Insured work means services performed for an employer who is covered by the South Carolina Employment Security Law. The law does not cover some farm labor, some domestic service in private homes, and a few other types of employment.
No individual qualifies as an insured worker unless he or she has been paid at least $900 in his base period for insured work and $540 in that quarter of the base period in which such wages were highest.
