Transitional Child Care (TCC) Assistance is a program that was designed to help FIP Recipients with child care if they lost their FIP benefit due to:
· Increased income from employment by a member of the eligible group, or
· Receipt of child support, or
· Voluntary cessation of FIP benefits.
The program has not been accepting new families since June 30, 1999.
The program has a 24-month eligibility period. As currently eligible families reach the end of their eligibility periods, or they lose their eligibility for other reasons, they should apply for Child Care Assistance if they need child care due to employment or participation in academic or vocational training.
(The DHS Central office mails form 470-2824, Notice to TCC Recipients, to notify TCC participants who have used most months of their TCC eligibility that they may continue to receive help in paying their child care expenses by applying for the Child Care Assistance Program.)
Note: When families lose Transitional Child Care eligibility after July 1, 1999, their income is compared against 140% of the federal poverty guidelines. These families are subject to any waiting list requirements in effect.
