Enter the total dollar value of your countable resources, as of the first moment of the month you selected for this situation. Your countable resources include cash, other liquid assets, and real and personal property that you own (and own jointly with your spouse, if applicable), and could convert to cash to obtain support and maintenance.
Not included are certain assets that are not resources. Also not included are certain resources that are excluded.
NOTE: If you are married, do not include any resources that are held solely in your spouse's name. If your spouse also receives SSI benefits, then countable resources held solely in your spouse's name, if any, should be included in your answer to the SSI Resources (Spouse) - Amount question. If your spouse does not receive SSI, you will be asked if any of your spouse's resources are deemed to you.
The amount of your resources is used to determine your SSI eligibility for any given month. If you have resources that exceed the resource limits you are not eligible for SSI benefits. However, not everything a person has is a resource and not all resources count.
See the SSI Resources - Definitions topic for further information and for help determining what your resources are.
If you are unsure of the exact amount of the resources you have at this time, you may estimate. To use an estimate, 1) click the estimate button; AND 2) enter your best guess in the correct box.
