Income that that you have already included in a Plan for Achieving Self-Support (PASS) can be excluded from your gross income when calculating your Financial Eligibility for Section 8 Assistance or your Section 8 rent if the PASS is approved by the Social Security Administration (SSA).
You have indicated, however, that your family is spending or saving more money for work expenses and/or employability investments than is currently included in your PASS. That money is not included in a PASS. It may be possible that your could increase the amount included in your PASS. That would decrease your rent and the amount of income counted for Section 8 eligibility.
You should check with a benefits counselor or your SSA Claims Representative to find out if increasing your PASS is possible and appropriate. If it is, you can use WorkWORLD to find out what will happen to your Supplemental Security Income and your Section 8 eligibility and rent.
