The rent a public housing tenant pays is based on household income and whether the costs of any utilities (electricity, heat, cooking fuel) are included.
A tenant is defined as one or more persons who are collectively eligible for state-aided public housing who are authorized to reside together in one unit as his, her, or their primary residence.
Public housing tenants pay:
· 30% of net income for rent if the rent includes any basic utilities
· 25% of net income if no utilities are provided
