Medicaid Program - Specified Low Income Medicare Beneficiaries (SLMB) - South Carolina

Those who have Medicare Part A hospital insurance and income between 100%-120% of poverty, countable resources below $4,000.00 (individual) or $6,000.00 (couple) are automatically eligible for Medicaid in South Carolina as Specified Low Income Medicare Beneficiaries (SLMB).

Medicaid pays the Medicare Part B premium only for those with income between 120%-135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, while those with income between 135%-175% receive small partial payments.

People whose income is below 100% of poverty level (with similar resource limitations) are eligible for Medicaid as Qualified Medicare Beneficiaries (QMB).
