Individuals must meet the following non-financial criteria in order to be eligible for Medicaid in South Carolina:
· Citizenship: The individuals must be a citizen of the United States or aliens lawfully admitted for permanent residence or otherwise residing in the United States under the authority of Section 203(a)(7) or 212(a)(7) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).
· Residency: The individual must be a resident of South Carolina
· Social Security Number: The individual is required to furnish a Social Security number or to apply for a number
· Assignment of Rights: The individual must assign rights to medical benefits or support to the State and cooperate with the State in obtaining such benefits or support
