MassHealth Eligibility Determination Appeals

The Division of Medical Assistance (DMA) issues notices to let applicants know whether or not they are eligible for MassHealth under one of its coverage types. If an applicant thinks that DMA’s decision is wrong, he/she has the right to appeal it.

For information on how to appeal read "Request for a Fair Hearing," which is on the back of the DMA notice of eligibility determination. This describes what must be done to request an appeal and the required time frames for making the request.

Questions about a DMA notice or how to file an appeal should be directed to a MassHealth Enrollment Center at 1-888-665-9993 (TTY: 1-888-665-9997 for people who are deaf or hard of hearing)
