MassHealth Citizen

The regulations regarding citizenship as it is applicable to MassHealth are available at 130 CMR 504 and 130 CMR 505.008.

MassHealth does have a program, called MassHealth Limited, which is available to certain non-citizens.

MassHealth Limited

MassHealth Limited provides emergency services:

·   Inpatient hospital emergency services including labor and delivery

·   Outpatient hospital emergency services, and emergency visits to emergency rooms

·   Certain services provided by doctors and clinics outside of a hospital

·   Medical services: pharmacy services used to treat an emergency medical condition

·   Ambulance transportation for an emergency medical condition

NOTE: Aliens who apply only for MassHealth Limited do not have to give their Social Security Number. This means the Division will not try to match their names with any other agency including the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS).

In some cases, non-citizens may be eligible for other MassHealth programs.
