If you receive SSI benefits, you will not receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) benefits for yourself. You may, however, receive benefits for your children.
One of the most important differences between TANF and other benefits is that there is a lifetime time limit of 5 years. (States may, in individual cases, waive the limit.)
