Alternative Housing Voucher Program (AHVP) - Rents – Massachusetts

In determining the value of vouchers for each participant in the Alternative Housing Voucher Program (AHVP), the local housing authority first considers gross household income to establish each participant’s net household income. Income limits are set at two-year intervals. They are set according to "low income limits" set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) then in effect for a similarly sized household in the city or town in which the local housing authority is located.

The limits change annually, usually in February or March, so you should check then. You should also check to see if a WorkWORLD update is available at:

Rents for AHVP participants are established according to the general standards for public housing–participants pay 30% of their income for rent if the rent includes heat and utilities, or 25% if some or no utilities are included in the rent. There are limits on the total rental amount.
