Vocational Rehabilitation Services - Overview - Iowa

 

Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services logoThe Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services (IVRS) assists eligible individuals with disabilities to become more productive members of the Iowa workforce. Vocational Rehabilitation is a State-Federal program. The Federal share is 78.7%; the State share is 21.3%.

Who We Serve

To be eligible for vocational rehabilitation services, an individual must have a disability that substantially limits his/her ability to be employed; and he/she must require vocational rehabilitation services in order to prepare for, obtain or retain employment.

What We Do

Eligible individuals are provided with services needed to enter, remain in, or return to suitable employment in accordance with an individualized written plan.

Services may include:

·                        Diagnosis and evaluation;

·                        Counseling and guidance;

·                        Physical or mental restoration;

·                        Vocational training, including college or university, technical or trade;

·                        Job development and job placement;

·                        Services to ensure that the rehabilitated person is performing satisfactorily on the job; and

·                        Post-employment services.

Some services require that individuals receiving those services participate in paying for them in accordance with financial need. See: Vocational Rehabilitation Need Based Services.

Vocational Rehabilitation services in Iowa are provided in compliance with all applicable State and Federal Civil Rights Laws. All eligible applicants are served without regard to age, race, creed, color, sex, national origin, religion or disability.
