Answer YES if you are competitively employed in an integrated setting, earning at least the minimum wage or the prevailing wage in your community for such work.
In order to be eligible for MEDICAID WORKS, you must either:
· be competitively employed;
· be self-employed;
· have a documented start date for such employment; or
· have been recently so employed.
If you are not competitively employed, then answer NO. WorkWORLD will then ask you if you are self-employed.
If you are neither competitively employed or self-employed and are applying for MEDICAID WORKS, WorkWORLD will ask you if you have a documented start date for the employment to begin. If you have such a start date, then you can become initially eligible. Note, however, that Medicaid coverage under MEDICAID WORKS does not actually begin until the first day of the month after your employment begins. (If your employment begins on the first day of the month, then coverage starts that day.)
If you are neither competitively employed or self-employed and you are already enrolled in MEDICAID WORKS, WorkWORLD will ask you if you have lost your job in the last 6 months through no fault of your own. If so then you can keep your Medicaid coverage for up to 6 months while you try to find other employment, under the "Good Cause" exceptions. You must continue to pay MEDICAID WORKS premiums during this period if premiums are required.
See VA MEDICAID WORKS - Non-Financial Eligibility for more information on the non-financial eligibility criteria that are particular to MEDICAID WORKS.
See VA Medicaid Non-Financial Eligibility Requirements for more information on general non-financial eligibility criteria for all Virginia Medicaid covered groups.
