VA Former Money Payment Recipients August 1972

Members of this group are eligible for Medicaid as a "Protected" Covered Group.

Membership is limited to:

·             Individuals who were receiving AFDC, Old Age Assistance (OAA), Aid to the Blind (AB), or Aid to the Permanently and Totally Disabled (APTD) in August of 1972 or would have received such assistance had they applied or had they not been in a medical institution or ICF/MR; and

·             Their money payments were subsequently discontinued as a result of the 20% increase in Social Security benefits received in October, 1972; and

·             Their current countable resources are less than or equal to the current resource limit for Medicaid; and

·             Their current countable income is less than or equal to the 7-16-96 AFDC income limit or the current SSI income limit, as appropriate, after excluding the 20% increase amount received in 1972.
