Auxiliary Grant (AG) Rates are the amounts that Assisted Living Facilities and Adult Foster Care Homes (also called Adult Family Care Homes) must agree to charge residents who receive AGs if the facilities or homes are to serve AG recipients.
Prior to July 2003, the rates for Assisted Living Facilities were different from those for Adult Foster Care Homes; now the rates are comparable. However, the rates can vary by region.
The Department of Social Services (DSS) sets the maximum allowable rate equal to the maximum AG Payment Level for the region minus the AG Personal Allowance. (See: SSI State Supplements - Virginia for a listing of the maximum AG Payment Levels.)
For an explanation and example of how the AG Rate relates to income-eligibility for Auxiliary Grants see: Auxiliary Grant Income Eligibility.
