Earned Income Amount - SSDI (Title II)

Enter the amount you actually earn each month in gross wages before payroll deductions, or net income from self-employment. As with all currency amount questions in WorkWORLD, the amount you enter for this question should represent a monthly total. This amount may be different from your earned income received. To figure the amount of your monthly earned income for SSDI (Title II) purposes: 1) multiply the number of days worked in a month by your daily rate; OR 2) multiply the number of hours worked in a month by your hourly rate. Enter the total.

If you are self-employed, the SSA does not consider your income alone when determining if you are engaging in Substantial Gainful Activity (SGA), since your actual income may not be the same as the value of your work activity. See Self-Employment Income and SGA for more information.

Contact your SSA Claims Representative to find out the value the Claims Representative would assign to work activity that you are engaged in or considering engaging in.
