Families who are raising children with developmental disabilities who are under the age of 18 may choose to receive an assistance payment each month to help pay for some of the costs of caring for their child or children.
To be eligible, the child must be less than 18 years of age, have mental retardation or other developmental disabilities and reside with the family. The family of the child must reside in Oklahoma, have a yearly income which does not exceed $45,000, and be headed by a biological parent, adoptive parent or legal guardian.
If the family receives an adoption subsidy or Home and Community-Based Waiver services, they are not eligible for the Family Support Assistance Payment Program.
The monthly payment amount is $250 for the first eligible family member. For families who have more than one eligible family member, increments of $50 per month are made for each additional eligible family member with a maximum payment of $400 per month per family home.
NOTE: Income limits and payment amounts shown in this topic have been in effect since 01/01/1998, and are current as of October 2006. The most current figures may be found in OAC 340:100-13-1 at:
