In determining the countable income for purposes of the Child Care Subsidy program, only the income of those who are counted in determining the family size is included.
The size of the family is also important in determining the fees that the family must pay.
Parents: Parents (natural, legal, adoptive, or step) and their children under 18 living in the home, will always be included together in the make up of family size.
Non-parent Caretaker: A caretaker who is not a parent is NOT included.
Other Adults: Adults who are not the natural, legal, adoptive, or step-parent of the child or children under 18 living in the home are NOT included.
Minor Parents: Minor parents (under age 18) are considered for child care services separately from their legal guardian or parents. This means that minor parents can apply for child care services on their own even if they live with their legal guardian or parents. In this case, need for care and financial eligibility is based on the minor parents' circumstances and not that of their parents or legal guardian.
