The Virginia Industries for the Blind (VIB) is a self-sufficient and self-supporting industry, providing gainful employment for blind and visually impaired individuals. It also provides opportunities in career development and employment related services.

Since its establishment in Charlottesville in 1925, VIB has provided training and employment opportunities, enabling the self-esteem that comes from self-sufficiency. VIB is part of the Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired (DBVI), and works in conjunction with the Department's Rehabilitation Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired to provide employment, training, and other vocational services across the Commonwealth.

With over 150 employees and annual sales in excess of $29,000,000, VIB has manufacturing locations in Charlottesville and Richmond and 16 satellite operations across Virginia. Eleven self service and base supply stores serve military and other federal employees.

VIB is a self-supporting division in the Virginia State government, operating with the revenues generated from sales to State and Federal agencies. At least 75% of the direct labor required to produce the diversified line of products and services is from legally blind individuals.

VIB is an accredited affiliate of the National Industries for the Blind (NIB) and is an authorized distributor for products manufactured under provisions of the Federal Javits-Wagner-O'Day Act (JWOD)and the AbilityOne Program.
