Project SIGHT ("Systemic Involvement for Gaining Heightened Transitions") is a systems change grant from the U.S. Department of Education designed to provide technical assistance to South Carolina school districts, agencies, communities, parents, and students who are concerned about the transition from school to employment and independence in the community.
The project is a collaborative effort of the South Carolina Department of Education; the Developmental Disabilities Council, Office of the Governor; the University of South Carolina School of Medicine/Center for Disability Resources; and South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation.
Project S.I.G.H.T. goals include, among others:
· Providing technical assistance to individuals and service providers invested in the transition of students with disabilities
· Ensuring the development of outreach programs for all youth with disabilities who are experiencing difficulty transitioning into the community after high school
· Establishing effective student-centered transition planning.
