Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits are affected by both wages and hours of work in any given week. Individuals who work less than full time (40 hours) in any week may receive benefits according to the following formula: Wages of 25% or less of the weekly benefit amount require no reduction in the benefit payment; wages in excess of 25% of the weekly benefit amount, but less than two times the weekly benefit amount, require a benefit reduction of 50 cents for each dollar of wages; wages equal to or in excess of two times the weekly benefit amount or 40 or more hours of work require a total reduction of benefits payable.
