If you live in a long-term care facility, answer "YES" to the question "Do you live in an institution?" You are considered a resident of an institution if you receive more than 50 percent of your meals from the institution in which you reside. Generally, residents of institutions (i.e., long-term care facilities) are not eligible for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly Food Stamp Program) benefits.
However, some institutional residents can receive SNAP. See the topic "Eligible Institutions - Food Stamps" for a list of the types of institutions you may live in and still receive SNAP benefits.
