Import a Case File - Duplicate Import File Name

A file with the same name as the one you imported already existed in the internal WorkWORLD database. The import process renamed the external case file as shown in the message box.

Note that the name change applies only to the imported copy of the external case file within the internal WorkWORLD database. The name of the actual external case file remains as it was. Also, when this file is exported back to an external case file, the new name assigned to the file within WorkWORLD will be its new name as an external case file, unless it duplicates a name in the destination folder.

Imported files, by default, are given the same name as they had within the copy of WorkWORLD that created them. If a file already exists in the importing WorkWORLD database with the same name as one of the imported files, the file name of the imported file is appended with a "dup" number. This allows the process to continue without interruption when a duplicate file name is found.

The name assigned to the case from within WorkWORLD is the one that remains within the exported case file. Its external name may be changed without altering the internal name.

You may rename the external file name from within Windows Explorer, for instance, without changing its internal name. It may be necessary to rename the file in order for some email programs to attach it to a message.
