Housing Finance Agency (MHFA) - Massachusetts

The Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency (MHFA), now known as MassHousing, is a quasi-public state agency that provides below-market rate mortgage financing for first-time homebuyers, and other products (such as lead paint abatement and home improvement loans) for homeowners with moderate incomes.

NOTE: In 1966, the Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency (MHFA) was created by an Act of the Massachusetts Legislature. MHFA began doing business as MassHousing in October 2001.
