In the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly Food Stamp Program), if the self-employment activities as a farmer result in a profit, the profit is counted as earned income, which will be entered in a following question, "How much self-employment income derived from being bona fide farmers does the household earn each month?".
If the self-employment activities as a farmer result in a loss, the loss may be deducted from unearned income. This figure will be entered in a later question, "How much is lost on average each month from the activities of the household members who are bona fide farmers?"
See the topic "Self-Employment Income (Farming) - SNAP (Food Stamps) " for details about how to compute farming net income or loss.
