A contract unit is a unit occupied by an Alternative Housing Voucher Program (AHVP) participant for which the participant submits a request for program payment, enters into a lease with the owner, and for which the owner and the owner’s agent and the local housing authority sign a voucher payment contract.
The appropriate size of a household unit is one where it is not necessary for persons of the opposite sex, other than husband and wife, to occupy the same bedroom. Children under six (6) are expected to share a bedroom. A unit size is assigned to a household so that the living room is not used for sleeping purposes.
