Alert - No Calculation Check for SNAP (Food Stamps)

WorkWORLD asks you to enter your Current Situation with respect to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly Food Stamp Program) for one of two reasons:

1.        Currently Receiving Food Stamp Benefits: If you are currently receiving SNAP (Food Stamp) benefits, WorkWORLD asks you: (a) how much in benefits (your allotment) you receive; and (b) all the information needed to calculate how much you should be receiving. If those figures match, then WorkWORLD can go on to calculate with confidence the "What-If?" situations that you want to know about. If, however, the figures do not match, that means that WorkWORLD is not correctly calculating your Current Situation. Either the information you entered into WorkWORLD is not the same as the information your SNAP office is using, or your situation is not one that WorkWORLD can currently handle. WorkWORLD gives you instructions on what to check.

2.        Currently Not Receiving Food Stamp Benefits: If you are not currently receiving SNAP (Food Stamp) benefits, but are interested in the possibility, then answering the questions (and looking at the "More Info" topics associated with the questions) will give you an idea about the types of information you will need in order to use WorkWORLD effectively. For example, before WorkWORLD can help you determine your eligibility for SNAP benefits, you must locate or find out certain information about the members of your household. This information includes such things as earned and unearned income (benefits from other programs), expenses for child care, medical care, dependent care, and housing costs.
