WorkWORLD asks you to enter your Current Situation with respect to Section 8 housing for one of two reasons:
1. Currently Receiving Section 8 Assistance: If you are currently living in Section 8 housing, WorkWORLD asks you: (a) how much rent you pay; and (b) all the information needed to calculate how much rent you should be paying. If those figures match, then WorkWORLD can go on to calculate with confidence the "What-If?" situations that you want to know about. If, however, the figures do not match, that means that WorkWORLD is not correctly calculating your Current Situation. Either the information you entered into WorkWORLD is not the same as the information your PHA is using, or your situation is not one that WorkWORLD can currently handle. WorkWORLD gives you instructions on what to check.
2. Currently Not Receiving Section 8 Assistance: If you are not currently receiving Section 8 rental assistance, but are interested in the possibility, then answering the questions (and looking at the "More Info" topics associated with the questions) will give you an idea about the types of information you will need in order to use WorkWORLD effectively. For example, before WorkWORLD can help you determine your eligibility for Section 8 housing, you must locate a specific rental unit and find out information about that unit. You must also know what kind of Section 8 program you will be applying for.
