Vocational Rehabilitation Services - Computer Training Program - South Carolina

The South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department's (SCVRD) Computer Training Program trains people with significant disabilities in Computer Systems Technology and Programming, Computer Aided Drafting and Design, Business Applications Plus, and Personal Computer Repair and Help Desk.

The program relies heavily on its Business Advisory Council, made up of representatives from the business community. They assist with course development, candidate selection, instruction, candidate progress, intern training, mentor development, graduation, job placement and follow-up.

The Computer Training Program uses a highly selective process of testing and interviewing applicants to seek out enthusiastic, ambitious trainees capable of facing the challenge of the rigorous classroom schedule designed to prepare them for job readiness. In addition to the technical skills offered through the curriculum, the students receive training in other skills necessary to succeed in business through SCVRD’s Center for Comprehensive Programs.
