Enter the amount of unearned income that you receive during the month. (See VA Question: Unearned Income for definition of what constitutes unearned income.)
Generally, income is counted at the earliest of the following points:
· When it is received; or,
· When it is credited to your account; or
· When it is set aside for your use.
If a regular periodic payment is received in a month other than the month of normal receipt, then as long as there is no intent to interrupt the regular payment schedule, the funds should be considered to be income in the normal month of receipt.
Information for this topic was drawn from Section S0810.030 When Income is Counted of the Department of Social Services (DSS) Medicaid Manual.
