VA Question: Spouse Medical Expenses without Medicaid or Medicare

Enter the amount of your spouse's monthly medical expenses without Medicaid or Medicare coverage.

If your spouse has Medicaid coverage, then estimate what your spouse's monthly expenses would be if your spouse lost that coverage (whether or not you and your spouse would actually be able to get and pay for the medical services your spouse needs).

If your spouse does not have Medicaid coverage, then enter the amount of your spouse's monthly medical needs (whether or not you and your spouse are able to actually get and pay for the medical services your spouse needs).

WorkWORLD assumes that your spouse's Medicare coverage continues even if your spouse loses eligibility for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) because of the provisions for continuing coverage under the 1999 Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement Act.

If you want WorkWORLD to compare your spouse's situation with a situation in which your spouse does not have Medicare coverage, create a new situation and answer NO to the question about your spouse getting Medicare.
