VA Question: Spouse IRWE Amount

Enter the amount of any Impairment Related Work Expenses (IRWE) your spouse may have.

IRWE are expenses for items or services that are directly related to enabling your spouse to work and that are necessary because of your spouse's physical or mental impairment.

The expenses must be reasonable, paid in cash (including checks or other forms of money such as money orders, credit cards or charge cards), and not be reimbursable from another source (such as Medicare, a Vocational Rehabilitation agency, or private insurance).

The expenses may meet the IRWE criteria even if they are also used for daily activities other than work.
