VA Note - Medically Needy Medicaid

Although the Medically Needy (MN) covered group does not have an income limit for eligibility, if you qualify for MN Medicaid because you have a disability, you should be aware that the Virginia Medicaid definition of disability is partially based on your not being able to perform Substantial Gainful Activity (SGA).

That means that if you earn more than the SGA limit, you will not be eligible for Medicaid under the Medically Needy covered group. (See Medicaid Covered Groups to find out if you might qualify under any other covered group.)

NOTE: This version of WorkWORLD does not calculate eligibility and spenddown requirements for those whose Medically Needy status is not based on disability (but rather on being pregnant or under age 19). If you think it important that future versions of WorkWORLD have that capability, go to http://www.workworld.org/TechnicalSupport.html#ContactUs.
