Your spouse is not eligible for Medicaid under the SSI Recipient or 1619b covered group because your spouse's earnings exceed either the Virginia 1619b Threshold or your spouse's Individualized Threshold.
Your spouse may, however, be eligible for Medicaid coverage under a different Covered Group:
· If your spouse is pregnant or under age 19, then your spouse may be eligible if your family's income does not exceed 133% of the Federal Poverty Limits. There are no resource limits under this covered group.
· Virginia has a health insurance program called FAMIS. (FAMIS is not Medicaid, and its availability is limited by the funding allocated to it.) FAMIS is available to families whose income does not exceed 200% of the Federal Poverty Limits. There are no resource limits under this covered group.
· If your spouse receives Medicare coverage, your spouse may be eligible for Medicare-Related Medicaid coverage in which your Medicare premiums, deductibles or co-payments may be covered by Medicaid.
To find out if your spouse is financially eligible for one of these covered groups, create a new case file and answer the questions with your spouse as the primary Medicaid recipient.
When you come to the question, "Medicaid Covered Group," choose the relevant covered group from the dropdown list.
Do not include yourself in the "Medicaid Assistance Unit Size," since you receive Medicaid under the 1619b covered group. (See Medicaid Assistance Unit for more information on how the unit size is determined.)
