VA Alert - Medicaid Ineligible because Earnings High

You are not eligible for Medicaid under the SSI Recipient or 1619b covered group because your earnings exceed either the Virginia 1619b Threshold or your Individualized Threshold.

You may, however, be eligible for Medicaid coverage under a different Covered Group:

· If you are pregnant or under age 19, then you may be eligible if your family's income does not exceed 133% of the Federal Poverty Limits. There are no resource limits under this covered group.

· Virginia has a health insurance program called FAMIS. (FAMIS is not Medicaid, and its availability is limited by the funding allocated to it.) FAMIS is available to families whose income does not exceed 200% of the Federal Poverty Limits. There are no resource limits under this covered group.

· If you receive Medicare coverage, you may be eligible for Medicare-Related Medicaid coverage in which your Medicare premiums, deductibles or co-payments may be covered by Medicaid.

To find out if you are financially eligible for one of these covered groups, create a New Situation in WorkWORLD, scroll down to the question, "Medicaid Covered Group," and choose the relevant covered group from the dropdown list.

You may have to also change your answer for the question, "Medicaid Assistance Unit Size," if you are living with other family members. (See Medicaid Assistance Unit for more information on how the unit size is determined.)
