State Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) agencies furnish a wide variety of services to help people with disabilities return to work. These services are designed to provide the client with the training and other services that are needed to return to work, to enter a new line of work, or to enter the workforce for the first time. Participation in a VR program through your state VR agency can affect you in a number of ways.
Under provisions in the Rehabilitation Act, these State agencies also work with the Statewide Independent Living Councils (SILC) to develop a State Plan for Independent Living and to monitor the implementation of that Plan. Both the SILC and the State designated agency must agree to the plan in order for the State to receive Federal financial assistance for independent living services and Centers for Independent Living (CIL).
Below is a list of the State Rehabilitation Agencies and associated contact information, listed alphabetically by State. Additionally, an Internet link for each agency allows you to jump directly to its website in your browser, if you are online.
Note that in some States there is an additional rehabilitation agency that specializes in providing services to people with visual impairments or blindness. This list was originally compiled by SSA, and has been extensively updated, particularly due to URL changes. The list was believed current as of April 2009.
