Some States administer their own SSI State Supplements. They add to the Federal SSI cash benefit by sending a separate check either directly to SSI recipients or, for recipients who live in adult care facilities (or some other kinds of facilities), by sending a separate check directly to the facility.
The following is a list of the States that supplement the Federal SSI cash benefit in this way. We are adding more detailed information about specific States as we work to improve WorkWORLD. Click on the names of the underlined States to see that information.
NOTE: In several States, the State administers Supplements for people in certain types of living arrangements, while the SSA administers Supplements for other types. These States have "[see note above]" in red letters following their name.
Also, before October 1, 2002 both the State and SSA administered SSI Supplements in Washington. Washington now administers all supplements for its residents.
