Work Expenses - Non-Disability Related - Spouse

If your spouse is an SSI recipient with work expenses that are not related to your spouse's disability, your spouse's actual benefit amount may increase by up to 100% of the work expenses amount if your spouse includes them in a Plan for Achieving Self-Support (PASS). (The actual amount of the benefit increase depends on many variables. Use WorkWORLD to see how your spouse's benefits are affected in your spouse's circumstances.)

SSA must agree that a PASS may help you achieve a vocational goal that makes you financially more self-supporting.

If your spouse is an SSI recipient and is blind, then your spouse's benefit amount may be increased by up to 100% of the expenses by claiming them as Blind Work Expenses (BWEs).
