Section 8 – Application Procedures - Massachusetts

Application for Section 8 rental assistance may be made at any of the local housing authorities or any of the regional non-profit agencies. If application is made to one of the regional nonprofit agencies, the applicant’s name will be placed on a statewide Section 8 waiting list maintained by the Department of Housing and Community Development. Most waiting lists may be quite long for non-preference applicants.

Because some local housing authorities do not have a Section 8 program or some waiting lists may be closed, application may be made to as many of the local housing authorities as an individual wishes.
