Your family's gross non-excluded income meets the financial eligibility criteria for the Section 8 Tenant-Based Voucher program.
In addition your Family Rent to Owner for the rental unit you have found meets the Maximum Family Share criteria, so your family should be financially eligible for a Tenant-Based Voucher to rent that unit.
Assuming that your family also meets any non-financial criteria that your Public Housing Agency (PHA) may have established, and assuming that the unit is available to you (given your place on the PHA's waiting list and the PHA's preference criteria), you can use WorkWORLD to find out how much your rent would be for the unit you found.
"WHAT-IF?" STEPS
1. Create a New Situation. (Hold down the "Alt" key, press "S" then "N".)
2. Answer "YES" to the question: "Live in Section 8 Housing: Are you living in a Section 8 rental unit?"
3. Answer "Tenant-Based Voucher" to the question: "Section 8 Program: Through which Section 8 program are you receiving assistance?"
4. Answer additional questions, if any.
5. Review the numeric and graph outputs for information about your rent and changes in your Section 8 net income; review the Housing Text Results for additional recommendations specific to your "What-If?" situation.
