Medicaid Program - Foster Home Care Board Payments - South Carolina

Children who live in foster care homes or private institutions licensed by the Department of Social Services (DSS) may be eligible for Medicaid.

These children receive a regular foster care board payment. Monthly payments to children by individual age ranges are shown below. These rates were current as of 06/06/2003.

·          Age 0-5  $312.00

·          Age 6-12 $339.00

·          Age 13-21 $405.00

The Foster Children's Helpline was established to answer calls 24 hours a day from children in foster care. As case managers cannot be available to all their children at every moment, the Helpline assists them by answering questions, making referrals and just listening or offering reassurance. The toll free number is 1-888-722-2580.
