Homeownership Opportunities - Massachusetts

A variety of programs are available to help low- or moderate- income people purchase a home in Massachusetts. Most programs are limited to first-time homebuyers. Programs include:

·      The Soft-Second Mortgage Program that helps low and moderate income families purchase their first homes;

·      Local Homebuyer Programs that make loans to first-time homebuyers with incomes at or below 80% of the area median income;

·      A number of programs through the Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency (MHFA) that provide below-market rate mortgage financing for first-time homebuyers; and

·      A variety of Homebuyer Counseling Services.
