Assets are items of value that may be converted into cash. All of the household’s assets are counted when determining eligibility unless specifically exempted.
The current value of all countable liquid assets must be verified. This includes:
· Cash on hand
· Bank deposits
· Securities
· Lump sum payments
· Individual Retirement Accounts and certain Keogh plans
Non-liquid assets are those that are not readily converted to cash. These include land, buildings, and any real property. The countable value of a non-liquid asset is its fair market equity value.
The household may be required to verify the equity value of non-liquid assets.
