FITAP - FIND Work Program Requirements

The FIND Work provisions of Louisiana’s Family Independence Temporary Assistance Program (FITAP) define work related eligibility requirements. A family shall be determined to be ineligible for cash FITAP benefits, including automatic eligibility for Medicaid, if the parent has declined or refused the opportunity for full-time employment without good cause. Good cause exists if factors are outside of an individual’s control such as:

·        Childcare is not available

·        Transportation is not available

·        Illness prevents availability for work.

This provision includes either parent who participates in the FITAP program. Other than "good cause" there are only two exceptions to the FIND Work requirement under FITAP:

·        The parent caring for a child under one year of age is excluded from FIND Work requirements

·        A guardian not included in the grant (example: an aunt caring for child) is excluded from FIND Work requirements.
